Admissions are given on merit determined by past academic performance, aptitude test score and interview. The admission schedule and requirements are announced in leading newspapers at least 6-8 weeks in advance of the start of the semester.
PAF Korangi Creek Campus
At the PAF Korangi Creek Campus, new admissions in all programs are offered twice a year in Fall and Spring semesters commencing from September and January respectively.
At City Campus, admissions in all programs are normally available twice a year in Fall and Spring semesters.
North Nazimabad Campus
At North Nazimabad campus, admissions in MBA (Week-end program) and in all Bachelor programs of Business Management and Computer Science are available twice a year in Fall and Spring semesters.
Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor Degree Programs:
Applicants must have a minimum of 50% marks in the Intermediate board certificate or equivalent A- Level courses or related diploma for the Bachelor degree programs. For BE Electronics (Bachelor of Engineering) program, the applicant must obtain at least 60% marks in Intermediate (Pre-Engineering only) or DAE with minimum 70% in the relevant field as per PEC criteria. BE applicants between 50% to 60% in FSC and 60% to 70% in DAE must clear zero semester with 60% and above marks at PAF-KIET as per PEC criteria. Applicants with A-Level background for BE must have at least three A-Level courses of Math, Physics and Chemistry. Students of A-Level and other equivalent foreign degrees must provide the equivalency from IBCC within the duration of their first semester.
Eligibility Criteria for Master Degree Programs:
Applicants must have a minimum of 50% marks in Bachelor degree programs. Applicants for below 50%, marks in Bachelor may be considered if they score above average in our aptitude test. For MBA-Executive program, minimum of 4 years working experience in the relevant field, prior to applying for admission, is required.
Eligibility Criteria for MS / M.Phil Programs:
Applicants for MS / M.Phil degree program must have 16 years of schooling or 4 years education (130 credit hours) after HSSC/ F.A./ F.Sc or Grade-12 equivalent. The GAT-General conducted by the National Testing Service with a minimum 50% cumulative score will be required at the time of admission into M.Phil / M.S. The GAT-General test is valid for a period of two years.
Eligibility Criteria for PHD Programs:
Applicants for PhD Program must have 17 years of schooling that corresponds to MS / MPhil or equivalent degree from HEC recognized institutions. For engineering programs a Bachelors degree in a relevant engineering field is required. The GAT-Subjective conducted by the National Testing Service with a minimum 60% cumulative score will be required at the time of admission into PhD program The GAT-Subjective test is valid for a period of two years.
Candidates must submit attested photocopies of required documents at the time of submission of admission form. A candidate is required to provide attested photocopies of his/her ID card or B-Form, marksheets of matric and intermediate and bachelor (for Master candidates) degrees and two passport sized color photographs. These documents must be attached with the admission form duly and properly filled. Candidates may be asked to produce original documents on demand.
Aptitude test is of approximately 2 hours duration, and covers essay, objective and multiple choice questions. Multiple choice questions are designed to test English language comprehension, vocabulary and grammar; mathematics, IQ, and general knowledge. The pattern of PAF-KIET’s aptitude test is based upon the international tests of SAT for the 4 years Bachelors level degree admissions. Aptitude test for BE Electronics contains additional Physics examination section of Intermediate level.
Candidates who have cleared the aptitude test are called for panel interview for final selection. No more than 10 candidates are allowed in one panel for interview which lasts for approximately one hour. Group discussion enables the interviewers to evaluate the basic knowledge, communication skills, personality, attitude, general knowledge and the confidence level of a candidate.
An orientation program is arranged on the day of the admission test. The orientation program is primarily intended for the parents and guardians of the candidates and is conducted while the candidates are busy in the admission test. The program provides an overview of the academics, admissions, and infrastructure and is conducted by the senior management of the Institute. It provides an opportunity for parents / guardians to interact with the administration and heads of the academic departments and is useful for clarifying any concerns or procedural details. The interaction enables a first-hand evaluation of the quality and system of education at PAF-KIET.
Candidates finally admitted into the academic colleges are required to appear on a second orientation day for briefings related to academic, administrative and general policy areas. A detailed tour of classrooms, computer labs, engineering (BE students only), library and cafeteria is also given to them.
Temporary Admission Status
Candidates appeared in the Intermediate or Bachelor’s examination and awaiting results, may be admitted provisionally by providing other required documents of the degree program. Such candidates must fill an undertaking on the admission form before their applications may be consider for the Aptitude test. However, if a student fails to clear the examination or scores below the eligibility requirement of the degree program after the full result is revealed, the admission at PAF-KIET will be immediately cancelled. Another opportunity will be given to such students for re-applying, after the academic eligibility of the program is met
Candidates who fail to meet the eligibility criteria and are dropped from the degree program by the Institute, maybe refunded of their tuition fee. However, candidates must provide the complete academic result (marksheet or the copy of the admit card and newspaper cutting) within four weeks after the announcement in the newspaper to the Admission Office. Failing to do so shall bear a penalty of 2 5% surcharge (non-refunded amount) on the tuition fee.
Deferment of Admission
Students who are granted admission at the Institute and want to postpone their admission for one semester are allowed to do so if they give an application in writing to the Admission Office. The tuition fee of such students can also be transfer into the next semester if the Admission Office gets the application within a week of the commecement of that semester. Fee shall not be transfer after one week. Students who join the Institute and then decide to leave the Institute are not eligible for any refund.
Students passing the overall aptitude test but deemed weak in English or Mathematics may be asked to undertake remedial classes in English or Mathematics. Objective of these programs is to ensure that the students with deficiencies are pulled up to meet the foundational requirements for professional degree programs and courses evaluation of the quality and system of education at PAF-KIET.
