The objective of the MS (MPhil) programs is to contribute to
national development through original and focused research in
areas crucial for enhancing corporate productivity and
profitability. Eligibility is four-year university level degree.
MS students may specialize in Human Resource Management,
Marketing and Finance.
MS Degree Requirements
MS degree program is an MPhil level program consisting of:
- 24 credit hours or 8 courses from the specialized area.
- 9 credit hours of project related research related to
practical problem solving for the firm which is the
student’s employer.
Minimum passing grade for the MS degree program is B grade.
MS course requirements typically take one year to complete.
On completion of the MS course requirements, MS students must
register for the research project (9 credit hours).

and forecasting. The program provides an opportunity for
in-depth study and development of models and trends for

Admission in to MS Programs
Graduate Program committee supervises the admission process for
applicants to MS Programs. Applicants must pass PAF-KIET's (I)
Graduate entrance examination, (II) Graduate admission
interview, and (III) Meet the following eligibility
requirements:
- Eligibility for MS Program: 4-year formal university
level education of bachelor/master degree (BBA 4 years, MCom,
MBA, MPhil. (Management Science) from a HEC recognized
institution in a relevant field with a minimum first
division.
In certain cases for MS applicants, the Graduate Program
Committee may:
- Stipulate prerequisite courses and study work at the
Institute to be completed by the applicants not meeting the
four-year university level study requirements or not having
the relevant background.
- Waive entrance examination for certain exceptional
students or students with satisfactory GRE or GMAT results.
Thesis / Project
This involves a challenging research effort that adds value to
the degree and distinguishes the MS graduates from ordinary
course-based master degree holders. Thesis is different from any
other academic activity that MS students may have undertaken as
part of their undergraduate or course-based master degrees. The
objective of thesis research work is to enable the MS student to
apply theoretical knowledge and techniques to solve managerial
problems experienced by organization for which he or she is
working. The thesis / project is jointly supervised by a senior
executive of the firm for which the student is working along
with an evaluator appointed by the College. A successful thesis
equips the MS student with tools and techniques of research that
makes the student confident that he can undertake any research
assignment for solving a problem for which there is no known
solution. Detailed guidelines for completing the thesis
requirements are available with the office of graduate research.
- Thesis has to be successfully defended in front of the
Thesis Committee to complete the MS requirements.
- MS Thesis can be completed in a minimum of one regular
semester by full-time students. Depending upon the
commitment, regularity and time-effort; a working students
may complete the process in eight to ten months.
- However, a student may extend the research work
(although it is not recommended) for up to a maximum of two
years. In that case, the student must remain continuously
enrolled in the Thesis course (3 credits) in each semester
till the completion.
